Unprecedented

Trump’s second impeachment

I don’t think there’s really anything else to say there. Trump is now the first president to be impeached twice. His trial can’t happen until inauguration day because the Senate is out until then, and a lot of people seem to be wondering why anyone even bothered. But if he is convicted this time, it will stop him from being able to run for president again. Which would make a lot of people feel a lot safer.

Now we just have to hope he doesn’t do much more damage in the next 3 days. And that his followers don’t either. Apparently, there are a lot of death threats going around.

Homeschooling

Not much for me to say on this topic this week. Liam took over to start on social studies. He didn’t have any specific links for me to share, but it sounds like he gave Steven a topic to research each day, and then they read information online and watched youtube videos. He then had Steven come up with discussion questions, which the three of us discussed when I was on break or done work.

Social studies is huge and overwhelming to me, which is part of why Liam was doing it. I didn’t know where to start, or where to stop. I could probably teach it for the whole year and never get to anything else. But the important part was being able to research, discuss and ask questions. Those are the skills that will serve him the rest of his life. And he curious by nature. He really enjoyed learning about other cultures and the history of our country.

Stay safe out there, wherever you are.

Just another parent stumbling through the ridiculousness that is 2020. I'm lucky to be able to work full time from home, which gives me a bit more time to figure out this homeschooling thing. I started this blog mostly as a personal journal, but I hope it might help some other parents out <3
